Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a counselling or therapy course?

Psychological First Aid is not counselling. It is a training program that teaches you how to recognize signs that a person may be developing a psychological health problem or experiencing a psychological health crisis, and how to provide initial support until professional help is available.

Do I need a prior psychological health background to attend?

Not at all. The course is designed for the general public and requires no specialized knowledge. It is perfect for managers, healthcare workers, or anyone interested in supporting their community or workplace wellness.

Is there homework or outside assignments?

Most courses are fully interactive and completed during the scheduled sessions. Depending on the version, there may be a simple pre-session online module, but there is no extensive homework required outside of the training hours.

Will we be asked to discuss real-life personal experiences?

We focus on realistic scenarios to build intervention skills. While we maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, participants are never required to share personal psychological health experiences during the course.

How long is the certification valid for?

Psychological First Aid certification typically remains valid for three years. We recommend taking a refresher course or re-certifying every three years to stay current with the latest techniques and support strategies.
